RSLogix 5 is discontinued: what to do if you still have to program a PLC-5
Rockwell states that RSLogix 5 reached its final lifecycle phase on December 31, 2025, and that new RSLogix 5 activations are no longer available for purchase after that date. Rockwell also states that RSLogix 5 continues to be supported through Rockwell Automation technical support.
At the catalog level, the two editions we verified: 9324-RL5700NXENE (RSLogix 5 Professional Edition ESD) was discontinued February 28, 2022, with Rockwell's listing noting a functional replacement is available, and 9324-RL5300ENE (RSLogix 5 Standard Edition ESD) was discontinued December 31, 2025, category Engineering Replacement.

SoftPLC Corporation (Spicewood, Texas) publishes TOPDOC for the PLC-5 (TD5-FN) and describes it as programming, documentation and troubleshooting software for the A-B PLC-5 series, compatible with modern Windows computers (Win 7/10/11). Their listing names offline programming, documentation generation, online programming, troubleshooting, and upload/download via Ethernet, serial port, or DH+. Their published price is $3,500.00. SoftPLC also lists TOPDOC editions for the PLC-2 and PLC-3.
